Tattoo Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for your tattoo to heal beautifully. Follow these guidelines carefully. If you have any concerns during healing, contact us immediately.
First 24 Hours
- Keep the bandage on for the time recommended by your artist (typically 2–4 hours).
- Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattoo.
- Remove the bandage gently and wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel — do not rub.
- Apply a thin layer of the recommended ointment or unscented moisturizer.
First Week
- Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily with mild soap and water.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer after each wash.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattooed area.
- Do NOT soak the tattoo — no baths, pools, hot tubs, or swimming.
- Do NOT scratch or pick at the tattoo, even if it itches or peels.
- Avoid direct sunlight on the fresh tattoo.
- Avoid heavy exercise that causes sweating over the tattooed area.
Long-Term Care
- Keep your tattoo moisturized to maintain vibrant colors and healthy skin.
- Apply sunscreen (SPF 50+) whenever the tattoo is exposed to the sun — UV rays fade tattoos over time.
- Stay hydrated and maintain healthy skin through good nutrition.
- Touch-ups are sometimes needed after full healing — ask your artist about their touch-up policy.
Warning Signs
Contact us or seek medical attention if you experience:
- Increasing redness spreading beyond the tattoo area after 48 hours
- Warm or hot skin around the tattoo
- Pus or unusual drainage (yellow/green)
- Fever or chills
- Severe pain that worsens instead of improving
Remember: Every tattoo heals differently. When in doubt, contact your artist. We're here to help.
